Does chasing the "Elite" skills (Planche, Front Lever) always lead to injury risk?

I noticed a comment recently about someone focusing on the Planche before the V-Sit. SM always emphasizes the basics first—the foundation is everything. Gabo even talks about injury history and recovery in several videos. But let's be real, most people get into cali to eventually hit those elite level holds (Full Planche, Iron Cross, etc.). What do you guys think the point of diminishing returns is? Is it worth pushing for the big 3/4 skills if it means potentially years of chronic wrist, elbow, or shoulder issues down the line? Especially if you’re just doing this for general fitness and not competition. Where do *you* personally draw the line between progression and sustainability? Anyone else stop pursuing a skill to protect their joints?
