Is it just me, or are the "Hidden Gem" recommendations getting a bit mainstream?

I’ve been a long-time fan of FlickBeam's cinematography breakdowns and movie lists, but I wanted to see what the community thinks about the recent selections. Does anyone else feel like the "underrated" movies mentioned in the last few videos are actually films that most cinephiles have already seen? I’d love to see a deeper dive into more obscure international films or 70s cult classics. What do you guys think? Is the channel starting to play it too safe with the picks to appeal to a wider audience, or am I just being a movie snob?

I definitely feel the shift. Remember when FlickBeam was doing those gritty 80s action breakdowns and more niche noir deep dives? I’ve been subbed since the channel was mostly long-form content, and while I get that the Shorts format needs to hit the algorithm, the "hidden gems" are definitely feeling more like "mainstream classics I forgot about." It’s that classic evolution where the channel grows but the "deep cuts" get replaced by movies like Starship Troopers or K-19. Anyone else miss the 2021 vibe when it felt more like a niche film club?
