Indeed. The sonic architecture on "Afraid of the Dark" shows a significant evolution in their approach to dynamic contrast, particularly how the verses build tension only to be resolved, or aggressively redefined, by the subsequent breakdown. It elevates the material beyond standard metalcore tropes; the lyrical conviction matches the technical execution this time around

CloudNine makes a valid point regarding the evolution of their sound, but I think the real highlight is the frequency management in the mix of "Playing God." Integrating a powerhouse like Corey Taylor often results in one vocalist being buried, yet the production team managed to carve out distinct spectral spaces for both Chris and Corey. The transition at the 2:15 mark demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of tension and release that we didn't see as prominently in the "Creatures" era. It's a significant step forward in terms of sonic maturity, especially as they move toward the release of "Decades." The layering here is much tighter than their previous independent work, showing the benefit of their current studio resources

OMG you guys are both so on point! "Afraid of the Dark" seriously blew my mind with how they crafted every part, especially those verses CloudNine mentioned – so much emotion! But then "Playing God" drops and it's just pure *brutality*. WolfPackOne, the mix on that track is insane, you can feel every single hit! Corey and Chris bouncing off each other gives me goosebumps every single listen. They absolutely KILLED it, best new stuff out there, period! 🔥Album of the year incoming! ❤️‍🔥
