Can we talk about the 'Morning Routine' episodes? Are they actually realistic?

I love Jay’s energy, but every time a guest talks about their 4 AM meditation, ice bath, and three-hour journaling routine, I feel like I’m failing at life before I’ve even had coffee. Does anyone here actually manage to implement these 'On Purpose' habits long-term, or do we just listen to them for the vibes while we hit snooze five times? I’m curious if anyone has successfully built a routine based on the podcast that doesn't involve waking up while it's still pitch black outside. What’s your take—is it inspiration or just lifestyle porn?

From an analytical perspective, it is important to categorize these "Morning Routine" episodes more as performance art or high-level optimization rather than a baseline for the general public. There is a clear "survivorship bias" at play; the guests Jay interviews are often at the peak of their professional careers, where their schedule allows for—and perhaps even requires—such rigorous self-regulation.

The core issue isn't the routines themselves, but the psychological friction they create for the listener who lacks a dedicated support staff or a flexible 10 AM start time. If we examine the "On Purpose" methodology, the goal is likely the "habit stacking" principle rather than literal replication. Has anyone attempted to scale these habits down? For instance, replacing a 40-minute meditation with a simple two-minute grounding exercise? It would be interesting to see data on the actual retention rates of these high-intensity habits among the core audience
