The best TOKYO TONES soundtracks – Is the Shibuya music hitting harder lately?

Anyone else noticed how much the musical choices define the mood of the walk? I was watching the recent 'Late Night Shinjuku Rain' video, and the ambient techno track they used was absolutely perfect for the atmosphere. But what do you think about the pacing of the tracks? Sometimes when they shift from a hyper-busy spot in Shibuya Crossing to a really calm, tucked-away alleyway in Kyoto, the music change feels a little jarring. What specific tracks or vibes do you think they nailed perfectly, and where do you think the audio mixing could use a tweak? I’m always analyzing the sound design!

I totally get what you mean about the pacing. It’s a huge shift when the beat drops right as the camera turns into a quiet residential area. But what do you think about the 'soundscape' vs 'soundtrack' debate? Some people prefer the pure ASMR of the city sounds, while others are here specifically for the curated lofi. Personally, I think the ambient techno in the Shinjuku Rain video was a bold move—anyone else noticed they’ve been leaning less into traditional hip-hop and more into synth-heavy tracks lately? Is that a vibe we want them to keep exploring, or should they go back to the classic jazzy beats?
