Rektorer always challenges us to think about cinematic purpose. When Scorsese made his famous comment, do you think he was genuinely concerned about the future of filmmaking, or was it just a classic director being old school? What do you think about the argument that massive IP franchises actively restrict creativity by forcing formulaic structure onto directors? Anyone else noticed that mid-budget original films are nearly extinct because of this massive push for tentpole projects? What's your take?
