The Cultural Weight of Nostalgia in Dance Music. Does it hinder innovation?

I've been listening to NTS's recent archive dives into 2000s UK Garage and early minimal techno, and it's making me wonder: are we relying too heavily on nostalgia right now? Every other track seems to be heavily influenced by sounds that peaked 20 years ago. While it's fantastic to appreciate the roots, what do you think about the current state of electronic music? Is this backward glance stifling truly new sonic architectures, or is it merely recycling key elements into something genuinely fresh? Anyone else noticed that the newest 'innovators' are often just the most meticulous historians? Let's discuss.

Omg, I totally disagree!! NTS is literally doing God's work by preserving these absolute gems for us! ❤️🔥 It’s not just "nostalgia," it’s about having a deep musical education so the new producers actually have some soul and context! Those Japanese flute mixes and the '80s sophisti-funk vibes are total masterpieces, I've had them on repeat all week! 🇯🇵✨ NTS is on such a roll lately and I’m here for every single second of it. If you think this archive digging hinders innovation, you’re just missing the magic of the curation! We are so back!! 🚀🙌
