I’ve been thinking about the ecology of fantasy monsters lately, and while the Owlbear is a classic, isn't it kind of a silly design for a top predator? No wings means it’s basically just a feathered bear with a beak. Anyone else noticed that it seems less effective than a standard grizzly or a giant owl? I'm curious if you guys think 'cool' design should always trump biological realism in fantasy, or if it takes you out of the world. What’s your take?
