Is "skill" in Melee just knowing where the jank is?

Okay, real talk. Everyone always talks about the "technical skill" and "deep mechanics" in Melee, but sometimes it feels like 70% of high-level play is just exploiting some broken jank that was accidentally left in the game. Like, Fox's shine? Sure, it's fast, but are we *really* gonna pretend that having a literal "get out of jail free" card with invincibility frames and crazy combo potential is pure skill, or just knowing the game engine has holes? Or wobbling? Come on. Are we truly just celebrating who can best abuse the unintended consequences, or is there genuine, pure competitive integrity here that I'm missing? Discuss. (And try not to cry about it.)
