Is the "grind" just a mental illness we've decided to monetize?

Seriously, I see these stories of people training 20 hours a day just to shave 0.01 seconds off a race or coming back from a career-ending injury just to get 4th place. At what point do we stop calling it "inspiring" and start calling it a cry for help? 💀 I mean, if I spent that much time obsessing over a circle or a ball, my family would have me committed. Is the real "motivation" just learning how to handle the fact that life is inherently rigged? Or are we all just addicted to watching the suffering of others for entertainment? Thoughts, or are you guys still pretending that waking up at 4 AM is going to make you a billionaire?
