I’ve been thinking a lot about the production of 70s disco versus today’s electronic-pop. There’s a certain "organic" feel to the rhythm sections from that era that seems missing in modern quantized tracks. Is it just the nostalgia for live instrumentation, or was there actually a peak in songwriting during the disco era that we haven't reached since? Also, curious to know what you all think—did the shift to the more "synthetic" 80s sound improve the genre or take away some of its soul? Anyone else notice how much warmer the bass sounds on those vintage recordings?
