I've been observing the rise of "relatable content" in online entertainment, particularly within the short-form comedy genre. While it initially appears harmless, I posit that this trend is subtly eroding authentic self-reflection. Instead of encouraging viewers to genuinely examine their own experiences, it often provides a pre-packaged, generalized sentiment, leading to a superficial form of identification. This can hinder deeper introspection and critical thought, essentially reducing complex human emotions or situations to easily digestible, often oversimplified, memes or skits. Is this merely entertainment, or is it inadvertently cultivating a less introspective audience?
