Is it just me, or does the realism in police procedurals go out the window when the same lead character almost dies in every single episode? I love the intensity of the action, but at what point does it stop being a "cop show" and just become a superhero movie? I feel like the stakes would feel way higher if the situations were more grounded and tactical rather than constantly having someone survive impossible odds. What do you guys think—should these shows be more realistic, or are the over-the-top narrow escapes the best part?
