I’ve been observing a significant shift in the sonic architecture of contemporary Dancehall production over the last few years. We are seeing a move away from the high-tempo, percussion-heavy juggling riddims of the early 2000s toward a more atmospheric, trap-infused aesthetic. While this allows for greater lyrical versatility and international crossover appeal, I’m curious if the community feels the genre is losing its rhythmic identity in the process. Is the integration of "Trap-Hall" elements a necessary evolution for global charts, or are we sacrificing the core "bogle" energy that defined the genre for decades? I’d love to hear some technical perspectives on which era of production provided a better foundation for lyricism versus danceability
