Recs for "Kindness" stories that don't feel like total clickbait?

I’m looking for some actual recommendations for films or books about altruism that don't make me want to walk into traffic. Usually, these "kindness" stories are just emotional bait with zero depth and a suspiciously convenient camera angle. Does anyone know any stories where the "hero" does something good but they’re actually a flawed, miserable person like the rest of us? I need something to counteract the toxic positivity of those 60-second "life-changing" clips. Give me the gritty, realistic version of being a "good person" for once. 😇💀
