Why are sitcom parents allowed to be this unhinged?
I’ve been rewatching a lot of classic family shows lately and I’m convinced every sitcom mom is one minor inconvenience away from a felony. Like, is "extreme domestic discipline" just a lazy plot device for 20-minute comedies or were parents actually that terrifying back then? I’d honestly last five minutes in a household where getting a B- or eating the wrong snack leads to a psychological war. What’s the most "over the top" parenting moment you've seen in a show that people just ignore because it's supposed to be "funny"? I’m starting to think the kids aren't the problem, it's the adults who need a timeout
