Do modern sitcoms handle social tension better than the classics?

I’ve been rewatching some clips of recent family comedies, specifically stuff dealing with neighborhood dynamics and racial stereotypes. Do you guys think the "bluntness" of modern writing actually helps start a conversation, or does it feel a bit forced compared to older shows? For example, when a show spends a whole episode debating a specific label or a specific fear, does it hit home for you or does it take you out of the comedy? What do you think about how these shows balance the "preachy" moments with actual humor?
