'High-effort' content is actually making the internet more boring
Does anyone else feel like we've reached a point where everything has to be a 'massive production' to be considered good? I’m talking about the trend of hiring 50 people, booking international travel, or spending thousands on a single joke. It’s funny, sure, but it feels like it’s killed the art of the actual prank. When you can see the budget on screen, the spontaneity dies. I’d much rather see someone do something genuinely clever with zero budget than see another 'I hired an entire orchestra to do X' type video. Is it just me, or is the 'over-production' in the entertainment space making everything feel a bit sanitised and fake? What happened to just being a 'silly billy' without a massive crew behind you?
