Is breathwork more important than the actual water temp for resilience?

I've been getting deep into cold exposure lately and I'm curious what you guys think—is the "limit" of the human body more about the mental breath control or the physical adaptation to the ice? Anyone else noticed that their heart rate stays way more chill if they do power breathing before they plunge, or is it better to just go in "raw" to test the mental toughness? I’m trying to figure out if I should focus on longer 10-minute sessions at 50°F or high-intensity 2-minute plunges in near-freezing water to really maximize the dopamine boost and stress resilience. 🧊 What’s working for you guys?
