Why do we pretend the kicking game is actually football?

Can someone explain why we allow professional games to be decided by a guy who spends 95% of the time on the sidelines kicking a net? It’s 2024. We should just replace field goals with a 1v1 Oklahoma drill between the punter and a linebacker for the points. It’s objectively hilarious that a 300lb lineman works his soul off for 60 minutes just for some guy named Justin to shank a kick and ruin everyone's Sunday. Is there any actual strategic reason to keep kickers, or are we just keeping them around because the league likes the drama of a missed 30-yarder? It feels like a glitch in the simulation at this point
