Are we overthinking "communication" now?

Genuine question here, not trying to be entirely cynical (okay, maybe a little). Does anyone else feel like all this talk about "optimizing your posture," "commanding attention," and "strategic feedback" is just making us *worse* at normal human interaction? Like, instead of just talking to each other, we're all trying to "perform" our conversations or analyze every micro-expression. Are we just overcomplicating basic social skills to the point of absurdity, or is there actual value in these hyper-analyzed communication techniques?
