Is it just me, or is the "wholesome content" niche starting to feel incredibly performative? I feel like half these videos of people doing "random acts of kindness" are completely staged for views. Even if they aren't, the moment you pull out a phone to record yourself helping a neighbor or a stranger, the sincerity dies for me. Does anyone else think the trend of filming people in their most vulnerable moments—even for a "happy" ending—is actually pretty toxic? Or is the positive message more important than the intent?
