Is "indie" just 90s/00s cosplay now?

Okay, unpopular opinion time, but hear me out. I love the current indie scene, don't get me wrong, some of the new stuff is immaculate. But sometimes I feel like "indie" has become less about pushing boundaries and more about perfectly recreating the sound and aesthetic of the 90s or early 2000s. Like, remember when indie was genuinely experimental and felt fresh? Now it's almost like a formula. Are we just looping endlessly through musical nostalgia cycles, or is there still true innovation happening beneath all the lo-fi filters and dream-pop reverb? What do you guys think? Am I just old or is anyone else feeling this?
