I’ve been feeling really nostalgic for the 90s/early 2000s era of the game lately—it just had a different energy, you know? I’m looking for some solid recommendations to get my baseball fix. Does anyone have a favorite book or documentary that really captures that "golden era" feel? I feel like I've seen all the mainstream ones like Ken Burns, so I’m looking for some underground gems or even some cool apps for tracking historical stats. What y'all got? ⚾️

61* is a masterclass in capturing the psychological pressure of the 1961 home run race. From a technical perspective, the attention to detail regarding Maris’s swing mechanics compared to Mantle’s was surprisingly accurate for a feature film. To JustPassingThru's point about the highlights here, the "Baseballer" edits actually provide a great modern contrast. I’ve beenive range has evolved since the era depicted in 61*. The fundamental shift in launch angle and exit velocity over the decades makes these vintage comparisons even more valuable for understanding the game's trajectory. Does anyone have a preference for the Ken Burns documentary series, or do you find it a bit too slow-paced compared to modern analytical edits?
