In contemporary professional boxing, we’ve seen a significant shift in how the lead hand is utilized to disrupt a high-guard or "peek-a-boo" style defense. While the traditional stiff jab is designed for power and establishing range, the flick jab appears to be more of a tactical probe used to manipulate an opponent's vision and hand positioning. From a biomechanical standpoint, the lack of full shoulder extension allows for a faster recovery, but it arguably leaves the practitioner vulnerable to a well-timed overhand counter. Given the current meta in the welterweight division, do you believe the strategic trade-off of power for speed and distraction is objectively superior when facing a counter-puncher, or is the risk of being timed too high to justify its frequent use in a professional bout?
