While many fans celebrate the grit and physicality of the grassroots game, there is a legitimate argument to be made that the obsession with "getting stuck in" is fundamentally stifling technical development. In many Sunday League circles, a crunching tackle is met with more applause than a well-executed overlapping run or a sequence of one-touch passing. This culture rewards aggression over spatial awareness and ball retention. If the goal is to improve the standard of the local game, we must stop glorifying the "enforcer" archetype and start focusing on tactical discipline.
